Caroline was born at 2:17pm on May 18th, via c-section. My Dr made the decision to go ahead and take her due to my continued worsening pre-eclampsia (bp around 160/105 and 4+ protein). Thankfully, my platelet levels were high enough they were able to do a spinal, rather than put me under general anesthesia for the surgery. She was a good size, especially for her age (technically, at 36 weeks and 2 days, Caroline is a "preemie" - though all indications are that she shows no effects as such) - 6lbs 14oz (*exactly* what the sonogram estimated her to be that morning!) and 18.75" long. Her apgars were 9/9 - very good, especially considering the circumstances.
We got home yesterday afternoon (I'm not a fan of hospitals if there's not a "reason" to stay), and so far so good. She's nursing like a champ, but we're (of course) still figuring out that whole concept of nighttime sleep!
More later when we've all gotten some sleep. I'll try to get pics up soon.
