On the mend

Poor Caroline has been a mighty sick baby this week . . ..

She'd been running a fever (101F - 103F) for a couple days, but her demeanor was pretty good (not super cranky or lethargic, mostly smiley and playful if perhaps a bit more snuggly than usual). But, after a *very* rough night Thursday night, I took her in to the Dr on Friday. Her breathing was so labored by the time we got there (which, honestly came on pretty suddenly, she'd been pleasantly snoozing on the drive over) that they insisted on giving her a dose of Orapred and a dose of Albuterol via nebulizer first, and diagnosed her severe croup immediately. Then they also discovered that she has a raging infection in her left ear.

Thankfully she's already doing much better. She'll be on the Orapred for another day, a prescription cough medicine as needed at night, and a round of Zithromax for the ear infection.

The thing is: before the croup got bad enough that her stridor had us worried, you'd have hardly known she wasn't feeling good at all. She's such a happy baby that you'd have never guessed she was SO sick . . .. Poor baby!
