Well, if the last week or so is any indication: Caroline is done with napping.
It was a pretty sudden transition. She went from napping 2+ hours each afternoon, to 1-2 total in the past 1.5 weeks.
The good news is: she seems to be sleeping much better at night for it. She isn't really waking, and has slept til almost 8am the past few mornings (huge, for the child who used to prefer 5am wake up calls). Now, we still can't take any drives over about 10 minutes after 2pm or she'll be out like a light.
Seriously, she's SO different from her sister in her sleep patterns. It used to be with Anna Claire that if she fell asleep in the car - that was it. You couldn't move her. If you did, she'd wake. And even if she'd only been asleep for 5 minutes - that was all the nap you were going to get. She was recharged for hours. I used to pull into the garage, shut the car off, go inside to get a book, and then hang for an hour or so in the garage while she slept.
Caroline, on the other hand, decides when she's done, she's done. That's it. No looking back. She fell asleep in the car on the way home from dinner at Nana & Papa's house last week, around 7pm (normal bedtime is around 7:30pm, but w/o her nap, she was beat). I got her out of the car, carried her around the house while I closed all the blinds. Sat down with her for 10 minutes or so, til Daddy made it home. He took her from my arms. I stripped her down while he held her. He carried her upstairs and laid her down on the changing table (well, now her dresser, with a changing pad on top). We changed her diaper and got her into her PJ's, before laying her down in her bed. She *barely* roused for any of it.
So, we're still in some transition as she gets used to the new schedule and the longer days. But, I guess if these nights are the trade-off - it's a sacrafice we're willing to make!
