Count me among those who apparently hadn't taken seriously enough the "premature" nature of Caroline's birth.

Apparetnly this was the likely 'cause' of Caroline's jaundice, and we should count our blessings that it was all we faced. I certainly don't mean to down-play what others have gone through with severely premature babies (we have friends, they are some of the bravest people I know), but it seems we shouldn't have been so quick to dismiss Caroline's prematurity just because of her healthy size.
Now, unlike the 'warnings' in the articles, mine was not a 36 week term by choice. Yes, it was a decision to perform the c-seciton then, but it was a medical one, necessitated by my worsening pre-e/HELLP.
